Story Information

Wait, didn't she have a lot more Health when she was a boss?

She is a young girl interested in Necromancy[1]. It is also hinted her hair color and eyes color are because she is albino. Her house is located just east of the Lumberhill jail and you can find her there[2] with her mother and sister. But from an undetermined motive[3] she choose to isolate herself in the woods of Lumberhill, poor damsel in distress... She must feel lonely and abandoned alone in the woods...

Recruitment

You capture her at the end of the Night of the Raping Dead quest. She will be placed in the dungeon until her RP reaches 21.

Tactics

Larelle's makes for a powerful debuffer, with an ample repertoire of curses to weaken your enemy. In comparison with other spellcasters, she stands in solid middle ground in terms of magic stat/damage output and health/mana pool. Also, she represents your only source of psychic damage outside of using Tactical Spells I, which you will only get later in game.

Remember the fight against her in the crypt? It's a excellent demonstration to how to use her abilities in combat. She probably won't be dealing the killing blows, but she'll do an excellent job on making your enemy pathetic and vulnerable, so others can deal the blows more easily. She also benefits from having at least another spellcaster in the party, because while she doesn't deal much damage herself, she makes enemies weaker against magic.

Larelle's greatest weakness is that her magic has limited usefulness. Demons and undead (which make a very large part of your enemies) are either resistant or outright immune to Necrotic damage. Meanwhile, Psychic damage is ineffective against non-sentient monsters (which are also a large part of your enemies). On the other hand, not many enemies are weak to both. She can learn other kinds of spells to compensate for this, of course, but it's also possible to teach necrotic spells to other casters (since you get the Necronomicon at the same time as her).

Overall, her debuffs are the most useful in particularly tough quests, where you have to fight tougher enemies in longer battles., while not so useful in shorter or more balanced fights.

Hidden stats

The following are a list of stats/traits that are not made readily apparent about Hero on the status menu. Be warned that some of these might reveal spoilers about the character!

  • Takes 200% damage from anti-human attacks (becomes 150% after a certain achievement)
  • When she uses healing items, they are only 90% as effective (-10% effect)
  • Has a natural 95% hit chance
  • Has a natural 5% magic evasion chance
  • Has a natural 90% threat generation rate
  • She has a 150% chance of having the Charmed status inflicted on her. (A skill that has a normally 50% charm rate has a 75% chance to charm her.)

Trivia

  • When you first recruit her status will be "Dark magic girl". Upon completing her love quest A Heaven of Gloom, she becomes "Mistress of Dark Arts".
  • If you have not started Night of the Raping Dead, she can be found on her home in Lumberhill (where she hints what she is about to do).
  • As long as she is in your party, her former home is inaccessible, even If you have finished A heaven of Gloom.
  • She has a terrible relationship with most other harem girls. If asked about them, she offers either insults, or complaints. The exceptions are Florine, Chimei and Bronwyn.
  • During vacation, she stays looked in her room due to her skin condition.

References

  1. Also a powerful magic user, probably self-taught.
  2. Before accepting the Night of the Raping Dead.
  3. Frankly the Hero doesn't care about that kind of details.
  4. Cleanse Zombied status with a skill or item to revive completely.
  5. Learned after having item equipped for 5 in-game days.
  6. She learns this spell, when she reaches out level 9, so it's very feasible that she already knows it when you get this tome.
